Install/Update LTSP image using Chroot

First of all copy the sources list to your LTSP client image.

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/apt/sources.list

Make sure the variable LTSP_HANDLE_DAEMONS=false is active. This will prevent the server from restarting its own daemons when upgrading the chroot:

Now chroot into the LTSP client chroot directory, mount /proc.

sudo chroot /opt/ltsp/i386
mount -t proc proc /proc

Next use apt-get or even tasksel to add, remove or update packages as needed. eg:

apt-get install sabayon
tasksel install lamp-server

Once finished, exit Chroot, update ltsp kernels if needed, unmount proc and update your ltsp image

sudo ltsp-update-kernels
sudo umount /opt/ltsp/i386/proc
sudo ltsp-update-image

Finally restart the thin-clients for the new image to be applied

An amazing new blog is born
